So we have six chicks in our backyard, four red stars and two silver laced wynadotts (sp) They are roughly 6 weeks old. We rescued a 4 week old silkie with severely deformed feet the other day. She is such a little doll! She loves to cuddle and loves being held. The other chicks don't bully her but they haven't welcomed her either. Everytime I go outside she cheeps at me begging to be held. I love to cuddle her but I know the more I cuddle her the longer it will take for the other chicks to accept her, which is what I really want. They don't let her into their sleeping pile at night so we've been taking her in for nights where it's warmer. But long term I want her to be a part of the flock and be able to join their snuggle parties and all that jazz. The wynadotts are getting more and more okay with her and if they are away from the stars, they'll let her cuddle with them, but the stars still chase her away. How long until they stop the chasing? Is my giving her extra loves really prolonging their acceptance of her or am I just crazy?
