I had 30 6-week-old red rangers and 5 5-week-old Cornish X in a tractor. I fed them yesterday morning, and when I checked them early this afternoon there were TEN dead rangers! We had a massive storm roll through last night, there was a lot of close lightning that was extremely loud. Lightning didn't hit the tractor or anywhere on my property, and the dead chickens were pretty scattered throughout the tractor, not grouped together. Could the storm have scared them that badly? Or maybe they trampled each other? I didn't think at 6 weeks old that would have been that big of an issue to lose over a quarter of my flock!

None of the remaining birds are showing symptoms of anything. They're all still eating, drinking, and foraging well with no signs of lethargy or odd colored stool. I imagine if they found something poisonous when I moved the tractor yesterday more would have been dead?

This sucks. And I am very confused...
