Hi, new guy here. I live in Montgomery County, MD (Derwood, to be exact)
I would like to put a small hen house on my backyard, and trying to figure out what are my options.
I googled for the info, but everything looked somewhat dated and inconclusive.
As far as I understand, I can keep up to 4 hens on my back yard, which saves me from necessity to register with Maryland, keeping them as pets, so the thousand feet from property line rule does not apply. Is that correct?

I put "Montgomery County, MD" in the forum search box here on Backyard Chickens, and this is what came up.https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/723758/great-news-in-montgomery-county-md

I didn't read clear through the thread, but perhaps you might be able to find your answer there. I have discovered that this site generally has an answer to most every one of my questions. If you find something on the above-linked thread, or want to ask someone in that thread a question, just reply directly to that thread. Hope you find what you're looking for!

I have seen this one, and as far as I understand "the great news" was more of an anticipation of a regulation, that did not really came through. :(
But the last post is a year old there, so may be something have changed recently.
