Hi,
I've tried searching threads for an answer but wasn't able to find a very clear answer. I have three Silkies who go broody pretty often. I have no rooster. I have had two broody for almost two weeks now. The other non broody Silkie lays an egg a day in the same box the other two are squeezed into. Every night I lift one girl up and take the lone egg. Tonight I went in and there were three eggs. So either they all decided to lay today or the hen that I've gotten lazy about checking under (she's way back in the box) was hoarding eggs that the other one found.
Now I wonder if these eggs are okay to eat? It could have been as long as a week since I checked under the one hen. They are definitely not fertile, but not sure if they are okay to eat since it's possible they've been sat on for a week.
Temps here are in the 50's and low 60's.
Thanks!
