Ok' chicken Newbie here, 17 chickens brought home 4 days ago. 1 chicken seems to be lathargic, head bobbing up and down at times. Read about crops and Checked this morning, it was hard but not sure if she ate anything already. Have seen her poop and it is Lt.brown and very loose (not like the diarrhea pics I have seen. Still has substance) She just seems to be off ever since she was brought home. Thought it could be the stress of the move but now getting concerned because it is not letting up. She is the runt but no one seems to be picking on her. Just seems to be isolated, lathargic, eyes closed most of the time, massaged the crop this morning she was fine with me handling her. She is 8 weeks old, feeding chicken starter feed, and seems to be drinking. I say all of this but yesterday late afternoon when we put out the last feeding you could not pick her out of the crowd. She was in there with the rest of them eating. But this morning same symptoms?? :-/. I am so confused and very concerned. Keep reading articles but no clear solution or answer yet. Please help. Am I an over protective mother, worried for no reason? I sure do hope so.

Welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your bird, I suggest you post in the emergency's deceases injury's and cures section of the forum. I hope she gets better soon!

Maybe she had a more difficult hatch than the others, or maybe is a bit younger than they are- which could explain her smaller size. I hope the ER people can offer you some good advice and that she will perk up and do fine.
