I just lost every single one

Heart breaking.
It happened to me last year. Foster dog, a terrier killed 4 of my 6 chickens.

I have an eight foot redwood fence between the yard and the chicken area.
In my case I got rid of that dog the next day, but he was just a foster.
I bought 4 new chicks right away.

I am joining BYC today because over the weekend (I believe) my Boston Terrier killed 7/8 of my 2 month old pullets. It was our first time hatching fertile eggs with a broody hen. One had splayed legs at birth (we fixed by taping legs together for a couple of days) and another that was near death...we revived with heat lamp etc. To come home and find 7 dead birds was heartbreaking. I've had chickens for 4 years and never once had an issue with predators and I'm in an area where you would expect it. But I'm 95% sure it was my own dog. I do have 9 3 year old hens...so we weren't wiped out, but I'm just so sad about it. I'm trying to figure out if I will buy some pullets or if I will cut my losses and try again next time we get a broody hen.
