1 year old chickens not laying??

Does anyone have any idea why my 1year old chickens have just stopped laying? They are eating and drinking and acting just fine. We went from 12 eggs a day to anywhere from 1 to 4 eggs now.
 
Mites and lice are a possibility. Check under wings and their vents for creepy crawlers.

I ran into a period of decreased production. When I went out to close up the doors one evening I saw a rat running across the roost over the girls feet. Once I got rid of the rodents my egg numbers went right back up.
 
I have check and they are Mite and flea free... We have some younger chickens in there and have built another roost for them. they are all eating and drinking just fine and running around the yard eating bugs.. I just don't get it
 
I am having the same problem as well and would love to hear the reason why! We used to get 11 eggs a day from our 14 chickens and now only 4-5.

Do u have any younger chickens in with your older one? I have checked our for mite and fleas and found nothing. We have younger chickens in with our and have added more roosts. We thought maybe they were stressed its been two weeks since and still no change we are now only getting 1 egg a day from 10 chickens. We have had 2 over the last couple weeks that died. They just laid in one spot for hours with their eyes closed and then just died. I don't get it
 
I'm sorry to hear about your chickens. No, no new chickens added to the flock and they all appear happy and healthy and enjoying being the free-loaders they have become! :)
 
Mine are eating and drinking and running around the yard happy as can be. I just don't get it. Some even get In the roost and go through the motions of laying eggs but don't lay
