Hey everybody! I don't have the carpentry skills to build a coop like this (or like anything else that isn't formed from series of milk boxes and zip ties), but I'm hoping even the village idiot could manage this roof:(from http://centralcoastgardening.com/2009/09/a-coop-that-doesnt-look-coopish/)

What is this magic material, and how does one assemble it? It looks totally prefab, which is my favorite word, immediately following "free". Any suggestions, tips, hints, offers for your donated labor.. are all appreciated. Thanks!

In my opinion tin is the best roofing product but not the easiest to install. Here is a link on how to install the tin http://www.bestbuymetals.com/pdf/r-panel-installation-guide.pdf. That is a lot to do for a chicken coop. Another option is rolled roofing this is a link on how to install that. http://homeguides.sfgate.com/install-roll-roofing-low-slope-roofs-21346.html. If neither of those options appeal to you a different coop design would permit easier roofing install. Here is a link for a solid coop https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/stardust-farms-hoop-coop that is one of the easiest to build coops.

The roofing in the photo is standard metal roof, probably 28ga, you'll need good shears or power tools to get what you want and sorry to say..some skills, do as I did, hire someone to do it right. good luck...
