Right now my girls are almost 6 weeks old. Poop is getting bigger, smelly, and harder to mange. I have four golden sexlinks. The coop it's self was stated to hold 5 chickens but four seems like it's pushing it. What material is best for the coop floor? I have a pull out tray. Right now pine shaving is what I have and it's gross! Not working well.

Also what material is best for the nesting boxes? I have the nursing boxes closed off right now and won't open them up until they are at least 16 weeks.

Would love feed back. The run underneath isn't that large. It's a 5 x 4 area so I'm guessing I should throw something on the ground as well to help wih catching the poop. Eventually i am going to make a run that leads to underneath the trampoline and they will have more range and it won't be as big of a problem.

Suggestions welcome!!

when constructing a coop, it's best to put linoleum on floor...easy sweep out.. as for nesting boxes, I purchased 4 Harris Farms stainless steel nesting boxes.. again, they have a tray in bottom for easy lift out and cleaning. good job on closing off the nesting boxes until they are near laying age...otherwise they will sleep in there and poo everywhere...
