She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Dang! That's just too hot for me.

Do you have chick pics? I have a white EE that is wheaton and wondering how it will turn out.

What kind of eggs in the DIY? Shipped? Were they fertile?

In Utah we can sell up to 500 chickens a year I think to individuals without getting a permit. But there was a local story of folks getting harased for doing 250 because they don't have the proper facilities.

I'm anxious to see how this one goes with your temps correct.

12 weeks is a long time for a Cornish X. We are going to harvest next week. Ours were born march 13th I think.

12 week cornish x on chick starter?

Ours are ugly. Lost 2 to heart attack. Free ranging a bit. We will try freedom rangers next.
Laying? Maybe I think you are talking about something that you are not. What kind of birds are they?

Cornish X is what everyone eats all the time. They say they taste like cardboard compared to a heritage breed like barred rock or wyandotte.
Well personally I do not plan to eat them unless they go cripple then I will kill them and eat them. I am currently trying to sell them. I rescued them to save them and rehome them. I use Purina Start and Grow Medicated. It clearly states on the bag use until laying age or 18 weeks. Then swap to laying food. So.....am I doing something wrong? They are Cornish Rock Crosses 2nd generation. Crossed with red sex links, black sex links, green eggers, Brown leghorns, buff orpington. So I am not sure if I should be doing something different.

3 days til hatch day!! Hatch should start the fourth!!
Yea!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!

Is your stutter back?
Awesome! LoL!!!

If I run, you run. King or Queen of the thread!

I love this movie!! OH and DO IT!!!!!

Rossfam's are supposedly some 2nd gen Cornish cross, maybe...so not the same horrid genetics.

A Jumbo Cornish cross on chick starter for 12 weeks, if it lived, would probably be 20 pounds...

The last batch I did not only had extremely small hearts, but huge crops and almost no gizzard. The crumble and pellet food doesn't require any effort on their part. I want to put together a high protein coarse food, like fermented grains with ground fish. Unfortunately, I'm not in a place where ground fish is cheaply available.

She's feeding generic chick starter, but yeah, I don't think that is generally used until point of lay...what kind?

Cornish x don't have to taste like cardboard. Diet quality is important. If they eat grass and grains, they taste just fine

Its purina start and grow medicated. They are no where near 20lbs. Lol!!!

I think we're all a little behind here. 'Cept maybe those of us who are a big behind.

Speaking of which, @scflock , you forgot about me. I am a very good thing that will be coming out of Ga someday.

Welcome to the insanity.
IT has to be one of my all time favorite movies!!! I love it!!! LoL!!!

I'm thinking of changing my name to Kaytlin
Okay!

LOL I know right?

No, she's a she. This is why I try not to use gender reference until I hear "my husband" or "my wife" cause I've pictured many as the opposite and that's usually how I find out different then thank God I didn't say anything...lol

Careful assuming "my wife" or "my husband" means someone is the opposite gender

not the case here but just sayin

You people are hard to keep up with! But very entertaining!!

I actually thought about that! I guess its more in the context of the comment if they give it away or not.

I use Purina Start and Grow Medicated. It clearly states on the bag use until laying age or 18 weeks.

So that stuff is 18% protein, lower than I would have thought. My starter is like 20-21% protein, and then the grower food I use at 4 weeks is still 19%...

You are clearly using a good food for them, and using it as they recommend, so rest assured you're not doing anything wrong.

OMG! Off today and working in the yard. Heard my silkies having a fit. Long story short, I got the chick nabber, and no, he was not relocated...
Well I am glad you took care of that!! LoL!!! Was it a snake?

Good just checking!!! I hope they lay eggs if I cant sell them. That would be great!!! But they do eat a lot of feed and they dont waste that much so thats a good thing.

Forgive me if I leave anyone out, but I think it's mostly girls except:
SC
Bugtraq
Sidewing
Gachooks
BYC 910
sjturner
My guess is BYC and Bugtraq are the oldest, followed by me. Chooks is probably close to my age based purely on his comedy tastes
Sidewing is a little younger, but we've seen pics to prove that
I'm a little stumped on sjturner. I knew Aussie, but the cartoon references threw me off. I was thinking early 20s, but could be younger
Edit: just read turner's last post. I was wrong :gig

Both BYC and Bugtraq have posted thier age on the site so I know I'm younger than them. However I am old enough to have grown up before color TV- so I don't know if I'm older or younger than you SC . Defintly older than sidewing. I watch lots of cartoons esp when looking after my younger brothers children.

Last time I went on a business trip people thought I was 15-20 years younger than I am.

I should qualify that as before color TV was common in Australia - I think it must have been available in the UK , because Jon pert wee dr who episodes are in color
