Accidents happen. Do not dwell on what you can't change. There are still 9 eggs left. Be happy; your getting closer to hatching day. And what fun that will be!

I know it was just an accident poor thing.. I hope all goes well these next 10 days can't wait.. So exciting I glad I decided to go ahead and let her set..

So if I put them under her on Friday the 15th that means on June 5th they should be hatching do I need to check on her all day to make sure all is well. What if they hatch at night she will take care of them correct. I hope she's a good momma for the first time.

Check on her, yes, but try hard not to disturb her; your interference could result in tragedy. Only look under her if there is an obvious problem-loud chirping, a chick out of the nest where it can not get back on its own-that sort of thing and no looking at night. Hens instinctively know what to do. One thing that many people do is get overanxious thinking a chick can't hatch on its own and break it out of the shell. Most times the chick dies. The hatching process takes many hours. Leave it to the expert; the broody hen. And if there is a problem, most likely you'll only make it worse by looking.

And I know how hard it is to wait. When my seramas were hatching..."just one more peek"-that is until my wife reminded me of my own words to her, "Leave those poor chickens alone!!!!" My wife-I think I'll keep her-the chickens too-HA

I have 3 hens that have been laying for about 2 months now we just got a beautiful rooster last Monday the people that had him had to rehome him their neighbors complained about his crowing all the time. well i have gotten 3 eggs everyday since they started laying as of this Friday i only got 2 and Saturday 1 so i started looking and found a nest in the barn behind the feed barrels i now have 6 hen eggs and 3 duck eggs in the nest how do i know if they are broody my pet hen always runs to me when i enter their area now she runs from me their wings are puffed out but i haven't seen any of them sitting on the nest and I'm not sure if i should let them hatch eggs because it will be getting cold soon here in Indiana
