Ameracauna Question

If you want true Ameraucana, you need to find a breeder that breeds to the breed standard. Not someone who lets one rooster breed everything in the flock. If you want a specific breed, you need to know the standard for that breed. That way, you don't end up pay for something that's not what you thought it was.

I completely agree. :) Luckily I wasn't looking specifically for Ameraucanas, I just wanted to hatch out some eggs under my broody. But I do think that when someone tells me they are selling Ameraucanas (advertised as such) I should be able to trust that, even if I was less informed that I should have been. I know now to be more skeptical.

Agreed! May I suggest what we do in purebred dogs? Go to the breed's official website, look at their membership list, hopefully find a breeder within driving distance, and get your stock from a member breeder! If none are available close by, it will be worth the shipping costs to be certain of the quality of your flock. JMHO, of course!
