Hi all!

I'm new to this forum (but not to BYC!) and I'm interested in the Neiderrheiners. I have raised Biels for the past few years and I adore them but they do struggle some in the summer heat (I'm in Central NC). So two questions re Neiderrheiners - how well do they handle heat and are they truly auto-sexing at hatch?

Thanks!

Dana

I can't raise the heavyweight Neidies or Bielies in my hot humid SoCal climate but I'm so GLAD there are owners who are investing in these gorgeous breeds! If I only had a couple weeks of 100 degree summer I could get by with some heavy breeds, but our summers last in the 90-100's straight for months at a time and the heavier/fluffier breeds just can't take it. In my climate the 5-lb-&-under breeds without heavy underdown do best for me -- breeds like Cochins, Orps, Brahma, Ameraucana, Bielies, Neidies, etc just can't tolerate very much here.

@2MooreChicks Try just the Bielefielder thread on the BYC threads to find more Bielie info/breeders! Being tenacious a while back paid off when I was trying to find some rare breed owners/breeders. Truly wishing you good luck!
