Thats a good idea on the predator and prey thread thing, and no sadly I don't think I have a hen thats taken to flock leader. I have both ducks that keep a look out and when they run for cover the chickens usually, sometimes , would but Dave started attack the chickens so he's up when they're out and Lady doesn't give off a warning sound or anything when she spots a hawk She just lays down where she is when one flies over. I have done the CD thing in a few trees but we've got a fairly big yard and all the trees are on the edge, and the chickens spend time in the middle where there's no cover. I just wish they'd go after things besides my feathered babies!
Can you make some inexpensive cover for them Go to prey and pred again and ask what others do to make cover[inexpensive] for their flocks, I have seen some pics of different things. just don't remember where I saw them. My ducks use to stand still and watch the hawks fly over till one day a red tail came down and got one of my bantams they pay very good attention now when the rooster makes the warning call.
Some info. @GarnerZoo
