Something managed to get into my guinea coop last night :-(
It got 3 of 4 guineas - the remaining guy has been removed to a safe location, but he has a badly injured wing and is hanging his head. I'm debating squirting hydrogen peroxide on his injury - it seems cruel when he's already feeling so bad, but it could stop infection... except it's all scabbed over. I welcome thoughts on this, too.

However we found 2 eggs. They are fresh. We had 2 pairs (just purchased them form a breeder 2 1/2 weeks ago...) so there's a chance they are fertile. But they were the first eggs we've seen.

Is it worth trying to hatch them?
How long do they incubate?
What humidity and temp do they need?

We have a Brinsea Mini Advance and successfully hatched bantam eggs (bought off BYC) but not duck eggs (from our own ducks).

Help!

Current totals
1 husband, 6 kids, 11 ducks (KC, Ancona, B Swedish), 2 chickens (WJG roos!), 1 dog (Great Pyr), 5 Nigerian Dwarf goats, 1 cat... and 1 sad Lavender GF....

Just saw a detailed how-to on hatching GF posted by PeepsCA on another thread (guess I should have looked before panic-posting!).

BUT here's a new filip. We have to go out of town in a few weeks - and if we started them today we would definitely be gone when they hatch. My farm-sitter (or another friend) *might* be able to handle the incubator, but definitely NOT the hatch.

What about keeping the eggs for about a week before starting them?
If they are even worth it, since they are the first eggs laid at our place by these (young) birds....

guinea hen eggs can be hatched at 99.6 degrees, 45-50 rh humidity and lock down 70 rh humidity takes 24 to 28 days to hatch. if you let them set for a week they must be turned a few times a day.

I agree. You can let guinea eggs sit in an egg carton, bottoms up, (then tie a plastic grocery bag around the carton) for up to 7 days.
I wish you luck on your hatch!
I am hatching twenty guinea eggs in 18 days!
