Some eggs internally pipped, some not... Okay to go into lockdown mode early?

The two from this morning are out and looking good. The first four hatched have been the Welsh Harlequin eggs. Looking at their markings I am 99% sure they are hybrid Appleyard and Harlequin... smaller but have the dark stripe on the head and tail. The fifth one was an Appleyard egg and looks to be pure yellow. It looks like our Appleyard duck and drake both have the recessive white gene? I'm guessing this will be a pure while Apppleyard. Looks much bigger than the others as well.

The sixth duckling finally hatched this morning a day late. It isn't looking amazing but hopefully it rests today in the incubator and ends up being okay. So six for seven, or maybe five for seven if this last one ends up not making it. Either way we are really happy with those results. Once again I am very thankful for Dave Holderread's awesome book on raising ducks. Also really impressed with the Brinsea Mini Advance incubator. There are certainly some issues, like trying to keep the big end of the egg pointing up and the cramped dimensions during the hatch, but overall we are really happy with it. I'm considering setting some more eggs soon but not sure I want another hatch to throw off our summer plans.

They are beautiful. Did the last egg eventually hatch?

Thanks! The sixth egg did hatch but the seventh did not. They are a week old today and growing like weeds. We took them outside for the first time today and they met the big ducks as well.

Oh my, they are adorable. See how fast they grow, indeed, like weed. Nice parenting going on there. Keep us posted on their growth
