We have two male guineas that are a little over a year old. We keep them with our chickens/hens. The one guinea is CONSTANTLY chasing and picking on the other one. Would adding some females make things better? We have a horrible tick problem and my whole family has Lyme disease, so I really don't want to get rid of them. We were hoping they would help lessen the number of ticks on our 2 acre property. We're obviously new to this, so any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

In the spring the males will chase each other and sometimes fight whether they have girls or not. If they draw blood they need to be separated but the fights usually look worse than they are. I have 8 males and 8 females. But the chasing still happens almost every day. It's just their nature.

I hate ticks and feel really bad that your entire family all have lyme disease. i have 6 kids and im always in the bush hunting something... ticks really worry me. did you know lyme disease was biologically engineered into the ticks on purpose by the gvmt in the 40s? ya wth is that?

I would get 6-8 more and in the fall determine which are males/hens and only keep 2 males. I have a dozen myself 2 males 10 hens, last fall I sold a trio and shot and ate 3 males. I find they are alot more relaxed with alot more hens than males... mine were constantly battling and starting to pick on the chickens so a whole bunch had to go... man guineas are VERY tasty!

take it easy!
