Hi everyone! First timer from NH

Sorry about your first attempt to hatch! Better luck with this try! I just got done with my first hatch recently, and I've heard yes, still air incubators need 101-102 degrees. People report good luck on adding no water until lockdown, but I am not experienced enough to add my input. They also say a wet sponge or paper towel is a good way to get humidity to go up, and that an accurate hygrometer and thermometer are a must. Good luck with this hatch! I definitely suggest reading the incubation articles here on BYC.

Glad you joined!

Welcome! I too joined today and am new to raising chickens. I will say joining this site was worth it. In just a few short hours I was able to get answers to my questions and learned a lot about chickens. I'm sorry your first try was not successful. My kids have been bummed that we don't have eggs yet but they love the hens! Good luck with your chicks!

Thanks for the input & I have been reading them they are very helpful! My next question is what should my two thermometers be reading? The digital is on the bottom and the other is on the top. Heat rises, so what should the temp be on the digital thermometer be and what should the Mercury thermoemter read which is on top?

They say to measure the temp at the top of the eggs.
