So I was convinced this was a girl until the last few days. But being new...so here are a few pics. What do you experts say about the gender of this one?

I thought the mahogany feathers may be a dead giveaway. I read that somewhere recently. So three of my five are cockerels then. So much for the expert knowing when I got them. :)

So is there any chance that this one is a pullet? I mean, do pullets ever have their combs turn red by 9.5 weeks? Or is it pretty much a dead give-away that it's a cockerel when it's red by 8 weeks (it reddened up between 7 and 8 weeks of age).

Thanks!

A pullet will not get red in the comb until they are almost ready to lay eggs, usually around 14 to 18 weeks old. Any bird younger than 10 weeks is nowhere near egg laying age even if it was a super fast maturing hen. Comb reddening before 10 weeks is always a sure sign of a cockerel.
