My hen has poop stuck to her butt feathers and shes losing alot of feathers around her vent. What could be the problem? The skin looks normal and not irritated. It will not let me upload the picture from my phone.

I just carefully pick it off bit by bit, though that may not work in all cases. How has she been acting? I get pasting up and it usually is a result of stress or mismanagement, though I don't know in your case.

Hope this helps

I would soak her butt in warm water. Lightly pat the poop off with a paper towel or something like that(be careful not to pick). I would also make sure that you are feeding the chickens some sort of probiotic. That helped my chickens a lot. No more pastey butts.

If you clean it off and it just gets messy again, I recommend trimming her butt feathers. The issue can be caused by stress, but some hens just can't poop without getting their bums all messy whether they are stressed or not. As for the feather loss, it's possible that she's trying to clean things up and pulling feathers off in the process.

Is she acting normal otherwise? Could be worms, mites or lice. They usually have the chicken acting more lethargic though

She is acting normal. I just got the hen like 3 weeks ago and i believe she is a little over a year old. How do i check for lice or mites?

Spot check the whole body but main areas are around the vent, neck, and under wings. Spread feathers and watch the skin for anything moving, be thorough and watch for 20ish seconds at least. Other sibns will be what appears to be dust/debris gathered around the base of the feathers. This dust is mite debris and eggs.
