Yes, they could be shown as AOV.  Can't place better than BV, but that is how new varieties are eventually entered into the standard.

Dangit. I lost Tuco. He was my original Silkied roo from Jubaby. He was 4 months shy of 2 years old, and may have been the oldest bird that far back in the genetics. Since Julie hasn't come on lately, I'm not sure what's become of her stock, but I'm guessing only improved birds are going to consistently live longer.

I've got several Wheaten split pullets on the ground. Never hatched a single male Wheaten yet. I'm moving a different Wheaten roo in from Wayne Meredith stock. He's very big, and I'm hoping he'll add some size to the mix. Tuco was very small.

I have an excess of split blue and splash silkie ameraucana cockerals. They vary in age just a bit, but most of them hatched out in February. I am located in Dripping Springs, Texas. Anywho, I just thought I would put this out here in case any of you all might be interested in grabbing up some of these boys. I'm offering them for FREE... Local Pick-Up / No Shipping. :)

Anyone want some eggs?  I'm still overrun here since my bator isn't going!  I did stick a dozen or so of these under a couple of broodies though.    I have a blue silkied roo (from alice's A line) over 4 F2 hens and 2 hens from alice's line B.  The girls are separated and the rooster swaps pens every 3-4 days, so the eggs will be marked separately.  I can get a batch out mid-week if anyone wants them!

I just found this thread again - I got some eggs from CatKai a few weeks ago.  The eggs were really well packed and they made it here in 2 days. They all tried to develop but only the one little guy (or at least I'm hopeful it's a boy!) managed to make it.  I did have to help him hatch - he was really weak, and I fed him water from a syringe the first day. The second day he picked up a lot and I got my chicks from Ideal, he was much happier with company! But the third day he really started to drag - I noticed he was just laying around and started to give him fluids and electrolytes throughout the day.  They didn't seem to make a difference and I was sure I'd lose him...he seemed to get worse throughout the day, he didn't even notice that I separated him from the other chicks and would just lay around barely moving, but I kept giving him more fluids every hour or so. Finally late that evening he started to perk up, I noticed him pecking at food a little and preening, so I was hopeful...
The next day (yesterday) he was back to his perky self, and was cheeping loudly for company, so I put him back in with the other chicks.  And today he is still going strong.  

I really need a name for the little guy!!!

Is he silkied??

I think there was a problem with the incubation after I read the PM you sent me about it.  I sent you 1 back with how I incubate.  I have had really good hatches. Post here in this thread what you sent me and see what other advice you get on what others are doing that works well.  What works for 1 may not work for another.  I'd not let them sit a week without turning for sure.  

I am so excited!  My broody just hatched a black chick!  It's the first one I've gotten so far and I'm really really hoping it is silkied!
