I was told that grit is important in baby chicks diet so we have a bag of the very fine stuff. Do we just scatter it with the food (we have alway scattered the food so they forage because that's what they do outside... We let them forage rather than have a food bowl as we have a very big garden and they get to roam freely as they always go back to the coop at night (except one daft bird who likes to roost in a tree!)

So do I just scatter it in the nursery run or make a bowl of food up and pop the grit in there?

Either or.... Probably a mix. I've decided to let them out of the coop a little at a time and increase the time daily. So the have water & food in the coop so I can put grit in there and also some in the run.

Thanks for the advice!
