Too much humidity?

I'm in to the first 5 days of egg incubation. The incubator I bought has no humidity gauge. There is a lot of condensation on the lid. See picture. Does this mean the humidity is too high for the baby chicks at this stage into the egg incubation process?

When mine has condensation on the window like that my humidity is usually upwards of 85%. I would drain out some water and wipe off the window. Are you able to get a humidity meter?

I will try to. Bummer. It's on day 5 at the moment. So you think I've killed all the chicks now because of the high humidity?

I would not think so. I do a dry hatch between 25-35% humidity till LD. then I up it to 60%. Look around for a digital humidity/thermomter combo.
Good luck on your hatch!

The high humidity will not automatically kill the chicks. The importance of humidity control is to insure that the egg looses enough moisture and the air cell grows at the right rate and size. By having your humidity this high the egg can not release moisture and the air cell will not grow. Since you are only at day 5 you have plenty of time to correct the issue and even out the air cell growth. First thing you need to do is empty that incubator and dry it out. After 5 days of high humidity I can almost guarentee that you are going to want to run dry. Here is an link I think that you might find useful. http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity It is the method I swear by, but in order to have the best results you do need a checked/accurate thermometer and hygrometer. Never trust an instrument that hasn't been checked for accuracy. If you monitor your air cells and mark them it should help you for now until you can get what you need. Good luck and I hope you keep us posted.

i had the same problem i have the same incubator i figured it out i was on about 3 days i think mine are fine so id say yours pry are too i emptied the water and wiped the condensation off and have been running dry since but its been rainy here alot. have you candled yet? im on day 17 now one egg looks really good i think 2 of my eggs look like the embryo is a little small but still moving around and the last egg the embryo looks really to small but i thought i could still see movement so not throwing it out yet.

Just candled mine in the 7th day. All I can see is a black shadow and a small air cell. No veins looking things. Are my chicks dead? Should I start running my incubator dry? I don't know what to do :(
