Canoe and Mary did bring up a good point about utilizing your broody to raise chicks. Even if they're laying regularly, your current birds are going to molt this fall and they usually take the winter off after that unless you supplement lighting. Letting your Rock brood on decoy eggs for 2-3 weeks then slipping some sexed pullets under her would be an easy peasy way to increase your flock and ensure you have eggs this winter when your current ladies take a break. Yes, you'd lose egg production from her for a few months, but you'd gain the production from the chicks. Plus, watching a momma hen raise baby chicks is the best part of keeping chickens IMO
