Well, it took quite the effort over the past couple days, but I made it! All of my homework is turned in!! I just have finals on Wednesday now, and I'm free for the summer!
Anyway, pictures, as promised! These babies are looking more and more like young adults! SIGH! Are they really 7 weeks old already..? I'm convinced more and more every day that Margie did a perfect 50-50 split and we have two boys and two girls! They aren't overly friendly, but I'm working with the girls every day with the hopes that they'll at least be handleable like their Mama is.
Speaking of Mama, she's reached a point of indifference, I think. She started laying eggs a couple days ago, and since then she's kind of flocked with the babies, but isn't clucking for them or showing them around. And I think the babies are okay with this arrangement, because they kind of go off on their own anyway! My grandchickens are growing up!! SIGH!
Here are my strapping young gentlemen, Benjamin:
And the delicate little ladies, Indigo:
Here is a comparison of Winter and Marka, just because they gave me the opportunity to take this picture. Marky's face is so sweet!
I cannot believe how big they are getting! Look at them!!
The boys stick together pretty well. Never know when they'll need to spar to make sure they know who's bigger and badder, right? Inside...
Winty's still got some awkwardness to him.
He does not approve of the sharing of that picture, though!
Meanwhile, Benjamin is still a stinker! That face!
It's hard to get a picture that really shows it, but Marka's looking more and more like her Mama ever day.
I almost had an adorable picture of them standing side by side, but Margie shook her head just as I took it and messed it all up!!
Here's my mini Silkie flock, hanging out together.
To finish off the pictures, here are the flowers.
The 'pink' daffodils. They're more pinkish in person, but this is pretty close to their color. Aren't they lovely?
This one is more recently bloomed. You can see it still has yellow in it, so it's more orangey than pink.
None of the white daffodils have opened yet, but there are some buds coming out on them! I didn't realize they were the multi-blossom kind (not sure what they are called?), but that's probably my favorite kind of daffodil, so I'm happy!
The Puschkinias are lovely as ever!
It looks like the balloon flower might be coming up again after all! Yay!
And this Lilac bush has been here forever, much longer even than I've had chickens! But it's in bloom, and I couldn't resist taking a picture. I tried to get as many blossoms in one shot as possible, but this was the best I could do.Edited by pipdzipdnreadytogo - 4/29/16 at 6:40pm
