Sexing Shmexing....

Unfortunately, depending on the hatchery (if these were hatchery sourced) there is a 5-15% error rate for chicks that are vent sexed. Sometimes a person can be the unlucky "winner" of the surprise cockerel lotto. One way to avoid the issue is to choose sex linked birds or auto-sexing breeds.
 
Ugghhh...we got 19 "sexed" pullets and we have at least 6 roos that we know of so far. :-(

That's really poor if they are coming from a hatchery as most hatcheries will guarantee 90% accuracy on sexed pullets. If they are from a hatchery, I would take pics of those you know are roos and contact the hatchery and see if they will reimburse you for the extra roos. If they refuse, I would warn other BYC members about ordering from them.

I don't think I'd fully fault the hatchery. I've heard employees at the stores may not always put the chicks back in the correct bins.
