Ok. I dont know what to do here. I ordered Orpington hatching eggs. After my long 21 (ha ha because it seems like eternity ) day wait only 2 hatched. Well, when my 2 chicks broke out into the world they came out a black/brown and caramel color? They also have feathering on their legs and toes. I have never seen an Orpington with leg feathering. Has anyone had this happen before?

Ok. I dont know what to do here. I ordered a dozen Lavender English Orpington hatching eggs. After my long 21 (ha ha because it seems like eternity ) day wait only 2 hatched. I wasnt expecting much as the person I purchased them from waited until a Friday to ship them. Well, when my 2 chicks broke out into the world they came out a black/brown and caramel color? They also have feathering on their legs and toes. I have never seen an Orpington with leg feathering, and judging by the color they are definitely not lavender orpingtons. Has anyone had this happen before?

It can definitely happen if one is not completely careful with the collection, marking and packing of eggs - or if one is not really understanding of the need to maintain separate breeding groups in order to be able to assure buyers of pure eggs. This little one is most definitely not what you were supposed to get. I would contact the seller and send photos of the chicks.

I would say the same: contact the seller about it. It may have been a mix-up of packed boxes, and somebody who ordered the cochin eggs now has lavender orpington chicks. The seller should make it right.
