So I got a young cockrel this past winter (dec?). He was supposed to be a full size ameraucana. He turned out to be a bantam ameraucana mix. Pretty much after we got him we noticed he was limping/acting odd. Shortly after figured out he had bad frostbite.
He spent the better part of three months in the garage. Healed up. Now he is doing great. He kind of hops rather than runs. I don't see him scratching much...but I work too much now. The main reason we got him was so he could be a ladies man and fertilize some eggs. We have 2 bantam hens that are getting old and we would like to breed them before long.
Main question is...will this rooster ever do his manly duties or does his handycap prevent him from being a "man"?
He is currently missing parts of all toes on one leg. Other let is just the pad of the foot and no toes at all. Tnx
