I'm wanting to get my next chicks from a hatchery that's closer by. I'm currently looking at Ozbert Farms, Sumner Bird Farm, Little Birdie Hatchery, and Fayetteville NC Poultry. The last being the closest to me, I believe. Anyone get any chicks from them or some place else?

I am going ro be following this thread. I too am looking for places mainly breeders in the Fayetteville area. I will be getting hatching eggs from the Fayetteville NC Poultry (Early Dawn Farm) come the beginning of July. I will let you know the quality of the eggs and chicks hatched when time comes if you would like.

That'd be awesome, thanks. I thought about getting my first chicks from them but decided it'd be more cost effective to just go with a hatchery.

I would not recommend Sumner Bird. I picked up my birds from there a while ago and have had 4 die on me within a few days of bringing them home. Two of those were due to an e. coli infection that caused a respiratory disease (I had one of the chicks necropsied, which is how I know that) and the bird was a sick when I picked it up (yes, I know I shouldn't have taken the bird, but hindsitght is always 20/20). Anyway, that one sick bird infected three other birds, one of which died. The other two are still struggling to make it even with antibiotics.

I've gotten 14 birds (7 being chicks right now, the rest adults) from Fayetteville NC Poultry and I love the guy who runs it. He has worked with us when it comes to roosters and is very nice and informative. He also takes very good care of his birds and I'm actually jealous of how big they are lol
