John I too just watched your video, its hard to believe that they would attempt to put down perfectly healthy uninfected birds. You have very beautiful birds, an amazing setup and i certainly felt your anger as well. Im very very happy that you got the news involved and persuaded the gvmt to change their mind. I couldnt be happier for you! heres to hoping all further tests are negative.

WOW you got **** lucky! buying eggs from a state with an ongoing AI outbreak is NOT VERY SMART! Its not that your flock had it or not but rather your flock came in contact with AI from a farm CONFIRMED with AI. im glad your birds are not being destroyed but your small potatoes in a VERY large basket. 50 000 000 birds have been infected and culled because of this.... and your not in the clear yet

no one thinks it can happen to them!

news flash IT CAN!

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

(sorry this is not Johns source of eggs) this farm has shipped eggs and birds to 75% of the states, infecting states that didnt even have AI.

good luck to you all!

stay safe!

To say NOT VERY SMARY is not kind.
We dont know what hatcheries are doing or going through at the time of purchase and it does take time for eggs to go through the mail and then time to hatch the eggs. Lets be more sympathetic towards others. Lets be supportive because it could happen to any of us!

thankfully the cases in my state have been minimal and far, far from my flock and no new cases in over a month... that doesn't mean I still don't worry tho... an interesting thing about the USDA tracking site is a vast vast vast majority of infected flocks are very very large flocks of commercial operations of well over 10,000 birds.. coincidence?
Yes, I've noticed that too. The same sort of thing happened with that virus that wiped out over 10% of the nations hogs last year. Almost all the facility's hit were large pork operations, with hundreds of head. I'm guessing its because they have so many animals cooped up in such small spaces.

John, I watched your video, I read your post, and I heard the heartbreak and initial anger. No one blames you one bit for having such strong emotions. Yet your subsequent posts have shown understanding for those who were tasked with the sad job of taking the lives of your birds. In your video you even said that. You've shown compassion for the seller as well, worried about her losses and being willing to help her rebuild.

Know what I think, John? I think you are an honorable and genuinely nice guy. I'm so happy that nice guys don't always finish last.
Thank you for that, Blooie. You are the best at putting into words what many are thinking.
John, I'm so glad that you got the quarantine, and I'm hoping for the best outcome for you and your birds. Thank you for posting all of this, because it has made me take this issue much more seriously

John I am so happy that your birds are getting a second chance. I understood your heart break when you thought you were losing your flock. We are all doing a happy dance for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your flock.

anyone bringing In birds or eggs at a time like this.... have you read my other posts? I am supportive...

do the research and dont risk your own birds for anything. practise biosecurity.

stay safe.

heres some good info and what Im doing to combat AI. im right in the middle of the quarantine area in Ontario Canada and where they found the infected wild Canada Geese in Michigan. iv been following it very closly since the fall of 2014 when it began in B.C. Canada.

I do suggest that everyone start taking it seriously or risk loosing it all.

John, I am SO happy to hear the news!

This folks is why the Constitution of the United States is in place and why it works. With free speech, John was able to reach out for help and we all were able to respond, if not with ideas, then with support and gives us all the reassurance that help is out there.

We plan to lock our gate today. Nobody official gets on the property without a warrent and we can guarantee the safety of our flock against biohazzards at the same time.

God Bless and stay safe.
