I got 15 guinea keets when they were two days ins on April 11. 2 died early in the box. The other 13 were very healthy and growing. On June 6 we let a few loose and they stuck around the property, huddling on the outside of the crate next to the ones still in the crate. So the next day we let them all out. They hung around and explored for 3 days. The morning of June 10 we spotted one walking around with a wild turkey. But the other 12 were nowhere to be found. It's now June 14 and only the one guinea remains here. Although there's a lot of wooded area on our property we've searched thoroughly for them, or for signs of trauma. We've posted signs on the street and asked neighbors to contact us if they seem them. Nothing yet. I can't imagine they'd fall prey as a group while free ranging. Any hope they'll be back? This is our first attempt to raise them and it's very disappointing!

Well, one of them still hangs around. It comes back to the coop every day to eat and drink. What do you think of closing the door to hold it in there in hope that it will call its friends back home?

If you still have that one I'd keep her penned up to call for them.

I've lost 2 that I could actually find a sign of something taking off with them. Several others just literally disappeared - due to the size of our property (40 acres) there is no telling what happened to them.

Good luck.

I did keep my keets in their outdoor brooding cage for several months. I also trained my keets from a few days to associate the sound of a cow bell with a treat. This has helped tremendously when doing a daily head count. They know when the cow bell rings they are getting millet or meal worms. I used this same method to bring them back to the cage area at night after I started letting them out a little each day.
