OH OH! Pick me pick me!!!!

Grr. So my Orp is acting aggressively towards the others. Mainly towards my EE and sweet Cochin. Doesn't matter if they're in the coop or not. Sometimes she'll already be bead them and then go to peck at them and run them off, other times she'll come around the corner or in the coop to harass them. Then she'll either take over the space where they were pecking, or just continue on. I've chased her away from them a couple times to let her know it isn't acceptable and she hunkered down... Then when I picked her up and put her on my lap to pet her a bit and give the other a break she put her tail up in the air as I ran my hand down her back. So I'm wondering if she's all upset because she feels the need to be bred, if she's just establishing a new pecking order since they've moved into a smaller flock setting, or if she's just mean. Lol aren't Orpingtons supposed to be sweet?? :p
Anyway, thank you!

Some tips : put golf balls in the nesting boxes, this can help to prevent egg eating. Next if it gets really hot in the summer give them cold water and maybe freeze some treats for them and give the frozen treats to them, also, know there call. Learn how they sound when they are warning each other that there is a predator, this way you know to come out and check if there ok. If you have any other questions ask away!

Thanks Luke! :) I also have their coop/tractor in view of my kitchen window so that I can peek out without harassing them too much. Lol the EE always catches me though and looks at me like "what you don't trust us??" Lol!
And I have them some frozen treats yesterday at the peak of hot day.
All my girls are quiet except for the Orpington first thing in the morning, so I think if I heard anything at the moment I'd come running! Hahaha

Another tip: make a call for them, like a sound or some words so once they hear you calling for them they will come. A way to get them to respond to your call is when your giving them treats say the call to them. So if there free ranging and you want them to come to you for treats or just want to know where they are just give them the call. Try to associate the call with treats.

Yay! Now that the girls are warming up to me I took some time to show them the chicken nipple waterer. My Cochin, Sweetpea took right to kg and now the rest of them are using it too. Since it's so hot I'm keeping several water dishes around, but at least I will know that they will always have water in case they knock some of the others over, so that's good at least. :)
Thanks again to all for the helpful tips in making this an easy transition on my girls and I!
