Indian runners wont mate or lay eggs

So after a year of waiting since I bought my Indian Runner, I have found 2 greenish eggs in the ground. Well my husband did and he was more excited than me. I was so happy, but now I am worried because she did not make like a nest, she just laying directly in the ground in the same place though. Also here is getting 24-22F at night and I do not know if I should bring the eggs inside and incubate them of let her do her job?

When ducks first start laying they tend to drop and go. After a while they will start laying in the same spot, usually... Now your other question. A duck has to want to go broody and sit on eggs. Not all do and there is no real way to know if a duck will or will not sit on eggs except to just leave her along for a while and see if she sits. Also check those eggs to see if they are even fertile before putting some in an incubator. Congrats on the eggs! That's always very exciting!

Well it looks now that she has dug a nest quit nicely! She is about 2.5 years and I got her when she was 1 year and 8 months aprox. My biggest concern is the temperature. I do not mess with any eggs of my duck until I have to, because I believe in natural way, but I do really want more indian runners. I had been waiting for so long hahaha

Here are some pics of the nest...

Awww... She did make a nest. If the eggs are freezing they won't hatch. You might just want to collect these till the weather gets better. @caesargirl what do you think?

Yeah, she did!! It was not that way yesterday when I saw it. I guess I will start collecting them then because is going to get 24 F today.

Hi picky Indian Runners will generally not go broody...to nervous to sit for any length of time. Collect and use the eggs till the time you can incubate the eggs yourself
Good luck
John

Thanks John I have heard that too! I was just thinking in the fact that she even made a nest and Though that may be a good indicator that she will get broody, but temperatures here arent the best, so there is no point on her getting broody so early in the year. I will collect the eggs anyway. Thanks again :)
