We just received a letter about our chickens/ducks and I do not know what to do or where to turn. We literally bought them all from someone in Port Charlotte. We have had them for almost a year and they have become part of our family. We just moved to a new area and received a complaint, but it was in terms of the structure of the coop and it not being permitted. We have been friendly with the new neighbors, but have only been here 2 weeks and I am beyond infuriated that someone would not approach us about the situation first, but we have been filled in that some individuals surrounding us are not very nice. Plus, it is obvious that a code officer just walked onto our property because it is a ½ an acre and is not too visible what is inside from the front of our house. My husband attempted to go get a permit, but to no avail we are lost. Anyone know if these ordinances have changed because we cannot find anything that says we cannot have them, but says that AG & AE places can have them. To me that does not say we can't have them though....
