New ducks not laying eggs!!

Thanks for this thread! I was worried as we are in the same situation but its only been 5 days since we got them.......so now i will relax and wait :)
 
I have 6 females and 8 males, all Ancona. I hatched them and they are almost 8 months old and not laying. Seems like they should be laying by now, wouldn't you think?

Shorter daylight days may have something to do with it and also that is alot of drakes to females. Are they girls constantly being bred? That can cause stress and no eggs.

X2. Separate the drakes out and see if you get any eggs. It may be harder for them to start this time of year, though. Good luck.
 
Thanks for the feedback. Since this post I sold a trio and processed four drakes. Now I am at 2 males to 4 females. I have the ability to put a low watt light on in their pen at night which could help.

Thanks and I will let you know if there is a change.
 
**UPDATE**

They started laying two days ago! I imagine removing the extra drakes and adding a light in the pen area did the trick! And the bonus is that one of my Ancona hens hatched from a green egg is laying green eggs herself!
