Hello again,
We are still in the process of building the chicken
coop, so right now the chicks are out in a dog pen
run by day and in the garage at night.
Originally the run was set up in the spot where
I intend it to be permanently, right beside where I am
building the coop. Several days/a week ago I was
getting the birds in late with a storm blowing in and made
the mistake of not realizing they had dumped a bunch
of food and water on the ground and if then leaving it there
overnight. When I went out the next morning it the ground was
covered in big moldy patches. I moved the run for the
time being but once the coop is finished I would like to move
the run back over to the original location adjacent I the coop.
My question... How do I safely get rid of the mold on the ground in the
area that will be the run? There is no bedding or substrate of any kind
on the ground now, just dirt and grass. My hubby says lime will
kill the mold, would that be a safe option? Other suggestions?
Thanks.
