Everyone in gwinnett county that wants or has chickens lets hope july 30th the ordinance is revised! A lot of good arguments wete made and everyone that went out to make the arguments thanks for all the effort! If anyone has any information for me or anyone that can help lead to the revision or a place to contact to make more arguments for pro backyard chickens let me know!

Wishing you success in getting the ordinances changed. IMO if those who have the deciding votes could visit some of us with backyard chicken Pets, their opinions would be swayed. I would argue that a small flock of hens pose less problems in neighborhoods than dogs. Hens are quieter than dogs, they don't pose a threat to people or other pets, and as long as the coop is cleaned regular smell better than a dog pen.

Here's a link with info that might help? https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/chicken-laws-and-ordinances-and-how-to-change-them

We appreciate the positive votes by Commissioners Tommy Hunter

, Jace Brooks and John Heard to pass the new ordinance allowing backyard chickens. Thank you Commissioner Hunter for distinguishing between the abandoned problem birds and cared for backyard chickens at the June public meeting. Thank you Commissioner Brooks for making sure the vote date was on a day that he would be present to vote. It was a close vote 3-2 that passed. If any of these three commissioners were not present for the vote the chairwoman who voted against chickens would have cast the tie breaker vote resulting in Gwinnett citizens not being allowed to legally have pet chickens.

Folks all over Lilburn City and other incorporated areas of Gwinnett were already keeping chickens. Never occurred to me they weren't legal other than the restricted subdivisions. Glad I don't live there anymore. Too crazy crowded for me now. I lived in the county outside Lilburn city limits as well as Dacula when it was WAY out in the country back in the 90's. It was mostly farmland then. Good for you guys!

Hello everyone!

Im new here and new to Atlanta as well. Considering buying a home in Lawrenceville, (30046 zipcode) which is about 5+ acres lot near Cramac Plantation
and wondering if keeping chickens and peacocks are allowed? Does the city of Lawrenceville follow the law that was accepted last year?
How about goats/horses etc on 5+ acres?

Lawrenceville doesn't allow "animal husbandry" unless zoned in agricultural, or agricultural residential areas. Sadly city law overrides county. Trying to get that changed though! Facebook group Chickens for Lawrenceville was just founded if you're interested in supporting this change :)
