"Sadly, we can't really help Edwin or Gwen," Linnet sighed. She really did wish to help Gwen, but knew there was nothing she could do to affect the treaty.
After they had been through formalities and all the proper greetings and such, Jane ventured a risky subject. "Your Highness, when my parents recieved the letter from you requesting me to come here, my mother was very happy. But my father was quite upset, and he usually is when Edinburgh is mentioned. Might you know the cause of his anger?" She asked.
Mariah stiffened. "That is a subject I do not wish to approach right now," she bluntly replied. She signaled a servant to come. "Take Lady Jane to her room to ready herself for supper," she commanded.
