Ok, so I'm a first time duck owner. They are mallards and approximately 5 1/2 weeks old. I was just curious at what age do I stop feeding them Purina Flock Raiser Crumbles and start feeding them something else and what is that something else I start feeding them?
Thanks!

I stopped feeding my mallard crumbles earlier than five weeks and he's done fine. After you stop giver them crumbles get non medicated grower until they start laying then give them layer feed. I give my mallard Odette the same food as my chickens but I made sure that its for both so watch out for that. Oh and make sure their getting enough niacin in the diet so their legs develop right. Odette had that issue and his feet are still not totally straight.

Thank you. There's enough niacin in the Purina Flock Raiser Crumbles, right? I hope. And I have a big ole bag of it so I'm going to feed it to them as long as I can... So I guess I was wondering at what age do I have to or should I stop feeding that to them?

I don't think it will hurt them to keep them on it till you run out you have plenty of time before they start laying. The crumbles your feeding them should have plenty of niacin in it, personally I would use game and showbird food but as long as it says it can be fed to ducks you should be fine. Just watch their feet, if they start pointing in then they need more.

I am going to inspect them. Yeah the crumbles are for chickens, ducks and turkeys... That's why I assumed since its for ducks too that it would have enough niacin. But I do want to be sure they are getting enough. Also, just curious, at what age do they start to lay? And how soon do you have to get the egg if you don't want there to be a growing baby inside? I don't want to take a life, but I also don't need a ton of ducks.

They are growing so fast! Some feathers are coming in! Check it out

Also, their legs seem fine :)

Thank you Miss Lydia, I surely love them. I'm assuming their voices will change soon. I'm looking forward to knowing if they are boys or girls.
