Today while watching the 4 week old babies free range around the yard, I noticed that my EE chick, Cashew, was developing some odd markings on her hackle feathers. Upon closer inspection the feathers looked a lot like a lacing type pattern, with white on the inside and buff on the outside.

Do you think that she'll develope lacing as she grows?
Also, if anyone has pictures of white/buff laced EEs or pictures of hens that looked like Cashew as a chick, let me know!

She probably will be Buff-Laced. Never seen an Easter Egger like that, but there are Buff-Laced Polish. Don't have any pics, but you can look them up to see what that plumage pattern is like.

Sounds great! Will the light brown/buff spread more, or will she still retain white?
I also looked up the buff laced polish, but the colors are different (brown inside, white outside.) on Cashew, its white inside brown outside. Will that change?

Probably not. I just suggested it because it looked similar. But I'm guessing she'll become laced all around, but with Easter Eggers, anything can happen.

You probably won't get a good idea of her overall color and pattern until about 6 to 8 weeks old. She will likely be buff and white, but how much of each and where is something that won't be clear for several weeks more. The buff could turn into more of a gold color, or the white could change to more of a cream, or 'she' could get the dreaded rooster red shoulder patches and end up a boy. One of mine went from this

to this

in only 2 weeks.
