Hatching

Good Morning! We are relatively new to chickens. One of our hens went broody and so we decided to try allowing her to hatch out some eggs. I know our rooster doesn't get around to all of the girls so I was unsure if the 5 eggs she has been sitting on were even fertilized. This morning the kids and I decided to do the float test as i was thinking that these eggs were duds (we're on day 22) However, one of the eggs when we placed it in the water went crazy with peeps and clearly has a chick in it. We quickly pulled it out and dried it off and put it back under 'Olive' (our hen) But now I'm worried by the chicks response that we have done something bad. Can anyone tell me if the chick will be ok? I realize no one has a crystal ball to know for sure but I'm wondering if what we did is a really bad thing or totally normal. Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can offer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Welcome to BYC!

I hope the chick hatches out well. I've heard people do a float test with hatching eggs (I think I heard that somewhere) so it should be okay.

I hope everything works out! Best of luck!
