I don't know if my ducks leg is broken or what it's twisted which makes it overlap the other one. It's getting worse and worse. I don't know how it got to be like that but I want to fix it because it has trouble walking making it just want to lay down. It's not putting weight on it. I considered a splint and don't know what the best option would be. On the bottom of its feet it has a bump. (On both feet) I can't stand to see it in pain like this so I need to do something. Some say it will heal but I don't know about that the way it's turned. My duck is a 6 week old Pekin duck. Please help!

It could be broken or it could be a nutrient deficiency niacin dif is usually the cause of most leg problems in water fowl but only way to know if it's broken is to carefully feel along the leg and see if you can feel anything that maybe broken. It wouldn't hurt though to give your ducks some Brewers yeast over their feed for a while 1 tab to 1 cup of feed or try a super B complex mixed into their water bucket. Pekins can come up lame pretty fast since they grow fast and get heavy faster than most ducks[they were actually here as meat ducks] but so many have fallen in love with their personalities they now are keeping them as pets. Can you post some pics soon maybe that will help us but if you can get your duck to a vet that would actually be the best for the best diagnosis. Keep your duck in an area where it doesn't have to move around a whole lot rest is best when there is a brake or injury or deficiency, and time in water therapy with your supervision so it can keep it's muscle strong while recovering. But first determine if this is an actual brake.
and here is some info about leg problems

Miss Lydia covered it - I would like to chime in and emphasize that B vitamin supplements, time floating in lukewarm water (no soap, and supervised at all times) is very important.

Some folks have made hammocks for their ducks (they sit in them upright) to take weight off the legs for a while.

Check to see if there are bumbles on the feet - that will cause trouble - if bumblefoot is involved, then get some clear (clear, not brown) iodine. Soak the feet for half an hour or so, then apply a couple of drops of the clear iodine to the bumbles, and wait a few days - a dark scab should form. Then soak again. If the scab comes off easily, it will take some if not all the infection out with it. If it does not come off easily, reapply a couple of drops of iodine and wait several more days, soak and try again.

Yes, the duck with the bad leg is much larger than the duck it's same age. At nights I put them in a small cage and at the day I let them walk around. Should I keep him in his cage in the day time until his leg gets better? And could I let him swim in his pool?

Pool time is important but he needs a way in an out that is safe. if he jumped from top of pool onto concrete that could have injured his leg that concrete isn't going to give. If that is the pool behind him it sits pretty high They need a ramp to walk up and come down on. wide enough they can't fall off the sides.

It looks like there is swelling on his right leg or is that just the way he is standing? Tell us which leg
How large is the pen you keep them in? he needs to be able to move around you just don't want him doing alot of walking or running right now, The leg needs time to heal. Can you put food and water in the cage? is it out of sun and heat?

@casportpony once gave a link to wrapping a broken leg and I had it in my book marks just looked through them and can't find it maybe she'd be nice enough to re post.

Have you examined his leg at all?

I think he needs some rehab.

What is their food?

I think it would be more helpful for him to get as much swim time as possible. Supervised. No jumping so if there is no ramp in and out, someone needs to make them. B complex supplements. Might consider a brace - poultrypedia has a podiatry page and there are BYC members who have made them.

His cage is in the shade. He doesn't get in or out of the pool on his own I put him in and out. I don't know how his leg got like that. When he was really little I kept him in his cage all day and I got him out to walk around and he had a lot of trouble walking. He has a big bump on the bottom of his foot (on both feet actually) and his leg is just turned all the time. I don't know what would be best. It's the leg that's turned that he can't walk on @Miss Lydia @Amiga

Dif. get him on a vitamin routine asap. whether you use Super B Complex or Plain niacin or Brewers yeast[not baking yeast] he needs help fast. None of these are expensive. Please take a pic of bottom of his feet so we can see what your talking about. Tell us how the bump feels is it a callous or does it feel really hard or is it squishy?
