Buying a house complete with chickens

The simple stages of Chicken math = if you get a roo(rooster) replace it with two (hens). Bantams count as 1/2 chicken, free birds don't count at all. If a chicken breed comes in many varieties, you should get all of them to try them out.

As you progress you will come up with your own chicken math calculations and very likely share them with us.
 
Ah! Totally understand chicken math now lol. ... I will do my best to keep ours in the single digits.

I have not seen single digits in YEARS lol.

Also any chicken not laying does not count. Little chicks do not count for several reasons. They are not laying and no way to know for sure they are female etc.
I possess 43 feathered animals. Only 4 are laying so I actually only have 4 chickens. At least that is my story and I am sticking to it lol. However I can get that number down if I only count the feed dishes.
 
Welcome to BYC my chicken math is all out too many roosters and propbably another one on the way if my luck or unluck is anything to go by and on top of that I have 5 Bantams so that makes 2chickens and 2 roos !!!!!
 
Oh yes, lol. Careful with the multiplier.
We are going after eggs. Since joining here I have learned that a rooster is not necessary to have egg laYing hens. Soooo. .. that takes that multiplier out of the equation... hehe
 
It's all good lol. Most of us on here have experienced some kind of crazy math.
Just have to bring a person with to the feed store that has the ability to say no.
That would be what my hubby says he can do but in practice he actually has chosen more of the chickens than I have.
 
Yes - I am seeing that "Chicken Math" happening to me already! We have not closed on the house yet and I have already planned new feeder and water systems.
