My husband has built many chicken coops this year but this duck house he built really did turn out beautiful! He frames them up using 1x2 (he just rips a 2x4 in half) then he sheets the walls with OSB plywood. On this one he got a great deal on 7/8 cedar fence pickets so he sided with them and treated the wood with Penofin stain. He roofs them just like he would a house. Paper then shingles, just no drip edge. The people that he built this for wanted the nesting box on one side and said that the ducks they have actually use a nesting box. I really wanted to get some better photos before it was on the trailer but I forgot . Its HUGE 4' x 4' and that is NOT including the nesting box. It stands about 5' tall. It took 5 people to load it on the trailer due to the 7/8 pickets. Not sure he is going to use those on a coop that doesn't have wheels.
