I built this 4x4x4 coop from recycled material, house build leftovers and a few panels from the hardware store. The coop has a main access so I can clean and refresh food and water. The coop sits on a 4x8x 18” screened box with hardware cloth on brick to keep out critters. An additional 4x4x5 area was added for the hens to get into the attached 4x4x10 pvc run.

Build details
If no price listed it was recycled from pallets and a neighbors bbq covering that I tore down for them. About $100 as most was recycled.

4 -4’ 4x4 for each corner
9 2x4x8 for walls and roof
4 used pallets for roof and perches
Floor boards came from another neighbor s front porch they threw out. 4’x4’ 1” deck boards on 2x6 on 16”
2 25’ roles hardware cloth. $36
1 gallon red paint $25
Hinges and door latch from the garage
2 4x8 exterior panel boards $40
Roof felt and shingles from the house build.
3 milk crates $3 yard-sale
Box of 2 1/2 in screws. $8
Hay $5 a bale. Use about 1/3 a bale each month.

Lower frame
2 4x4 x 8 cut to 10” I just had pieces to cut to size
3 2x4x8 for the top rail
3 4x4x8 for the base
30 bricks

Open area
4 2x4x8
Barn fence and hardware cloth
Bungee to keep open or closed

My wife cleaned it today but I need to feed and water in a minute.

We don’t use the access to the eggs, we just use the door.
