Agnes is a Silkie I purchased at our local Chicken Swap. I went to "browse" and ended up high-tailing it out there with two baby (1 week old) silkies, a blue and a partridge, tucked in the bottom folds of my shirt! I wasn't guaranteed any sex so I'm crossing my fingers that neither of them are roos. I guess I will have to wait for an egg or a crow!

I named the blue Agnes because of the movie "Despicable Me". I still feel it is a perfect name for her. She is a round butterball and super fluffy. At just over 2 months old now, her downy fluff is coming out like dandelion seeds around her neck and she is getting even fluffier. Her and her sister, Penny, bounce around and jump on top of each other frequently in what I can only assume is a dominance game. The two silkies get along perfectly with their older (by one week) crew. No one fights or pecks, in fact I have no idea what their pecking order is and who is the head-chick. They are friendly with each other and so far no mean girls have risen.

The best thing I like about the Silkies is the sounds they make. When they are content (which seems to be very often) they give off a purr and sing a soft trilling note. It is so soothing to hear and warms my heart. They are constant peepers (soft and not a nuisance) even when they sleep! As they fall asleep they coo and trill.

Here's Agnes from start to now:
