    Additional Information§ 7.12.010 LOCATION FOR KEEPING. It shall be unlawful for any person to suffer or permit any chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, pigeons, doves, squabs or similar fowl, or any hares, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, white rats, or any other similar gnawing mammal, owned or controlled by him, to run at large or go upon the premises of any person in the city, or to keep the same within 40 feet of any dwelling house or structure used as a dwelling house, unless such house or structure be occupied by him, or to keep the same within 15 feet of any side and rear property lines, except where the rear of such property abuts on a public alley, in which case the same may be maintained to the rear property line, but in any case a distance of 15 feet from side property lines shall be maintained. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.010) (Ord. 2442, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.12.020 QUANTITY AND AGE. It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, maintain or allow to be kept or maintained within the city, more than 15 live chickens, or other fowls, over four months old, or more than 50 chicks under four months old, or more than five grown live rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, white rats, or any other similar gnawing mammal, or ten young rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, white rats, or other similar gnawing mammals under three months old without special permission from the City Council. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.020) (Ord. 2442, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.12.030 DYEING PROHIBITED. It shall be unlawful for any person to dye, color or otherwise artificially treat any rabbit, baby chick, duckling or other fowl. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.030) (Ord. 2690, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.12.040 SALE OR DISPLAY AS PET OR NOVELTY. It shall be unlawful for any person to display, sell, offer for sale, barter or give away any rabbit, baby chick, duckling or other fowl as a pet or novelty. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.040) (Ord. 2690, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.12.050 SALE OR DISPLAY AS FOOD. Nothing in the two preceding sections shall prohibit the display or sale of any natural rabbit, chick, duckling or other fowl by any dealer, hatchery or store engaged in the business of selling the same to be raised for food purposes whenever the dealer, hatchery or store has the proper facilities for the display and care of such animals or fowl. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.050) (Ord. 2690, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.12.060 ROOSTERS. It is unlawful for any person to keep any rooster over three months old within the city. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.060) (Ord. 2442, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.12.070 DISTANCE TO BE KEPT FROM STREET AND PROPERTY LINES. It is unlawful for any person to keep, or allow to be kept, any chickens or other fowl, any rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, white rats, or any other similar gnawing mammal, upon any part of any lot or parcel of land within the city, except at a distance of 50 feet from the street upon which such a lot or parcel of land fronts or abuts. Except in the case of corner lots, chickens or other fowl or any rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, white rats, or other similar gnawing mammals, may be placed, kept and housed on any portion of the lots in the rear of a line 50 feet distant from the front property line thereof and at a distance not closer than 25 feet from the side property line thereof. (\\\'86 Code, § 7.12.070) (Ord. 2422, passed - - ) Penalty, see § 7.12.080 § 7.04.050 KEEPING PENS IN FOUL CONDITION DECLARED NUISANCE. It is hereby declared to be a nuisance and it shall be unlawful for any person in the city to keep or suffer or permit to be kept at or upon any premises owned, controlled or occupied by him, any chicken coop, rabbit hutch or other fowl or livestock pen in a foul, offensive, noxious or filthy condition.
