Here are some other pictures for you to view. This is a chicken tracktor and what you do is to crank the boat wintches until the coop is clear of the ground then add a couple 6' 2x4s then push it around. This is a fully divided coop. i have rhode islands on one side and jersy giants on the other. Here is the back where i collect the eggs. This it the rhode's side 2 nesting boxes and two autofeeders. Next time i will board off the insulation foam so the chickens won't eat it. Crazy...
Ok. So here is the story behind this incubator. I had a friend bring by a dickey incubator. I wanted to build one. After seeing the bator i wanted to customize it to me so i added a few extras. The first thing that had to go was the 1/2" plywood, so i built mine with 13/16" cabnet grade heart pine lumber. The board stock is 11 1/4" wide by 12' long. For this project i needed 2 boards. to make the wider sections i used a biscuit joiner and titebond glue. I used my raised panel door kit to...
Here is our attempt at a Dickey's incubator, It's a six egg tray auto turning incubator with a hatching tray. Temperature and humidity regulate very well. The cabinet is made out of solid 11/16 pine and the doors are both raised panels, the front door is 1/4 glass. It is sealed with 5 coats of lacquer and chalked well. This box was built to last for many years. All of the exposed screws are stainless steel. The heat source is a heater coil, it's in the paint can with the fan. The light...
I Tried to cut cost by putting in a metal plate instead of plexiglass. I like being able to control whats on and whats off not to mention knowing at a glance what is running at that time. i defiantly wanted to put the turner switch close to the door. With the dickey i had to goto the back of the unit and have someone on the other end tell me when to stop so that i could get the trays out. Here is the back of the build without the hatching tray. Another thing i disliked about the dickey was...
Here is a sneek peek at the walnut incubator that i will be bringing to the swap this saterday. I just finished the cabnet. Tomorrow i work on the egg turner and electrical. Sorry the flash takes away from the true color. Here is the interior without the turner. I'm going to make this a 144 egg turner without a hatcher in the bottom. I hope that i have time to build it's sister the "Biblis Hatcher" which will be the same dimentions as the bator. I picture them side by side. One would take...
