Coop At Witt's End So, I decided that I wanted chickens. We looked in catalogues, farm shows and farm stores. None of the prebuilt coops met my wonderful husbands expectations for my future chickens. He decided to build one for me. He drew up a rough draft and the building began. Julia's Happy Hen House at Witt's End 09/09/09 Today the little chicks are a month old! 5 Dominiques, 6 goldenlaced Wyandottes, 5 silverlaced Wyandottes and 2 Newhampsire red older hens. The older chickens are still a little standoffish but are getting more calm and relaxed in their new environment. They were given to us in trade for our 2 peafowl. They are laying beautiful eggs! Once again I am up trying to learn about peafowl. My husband has "gifted" me with these two rather homely birds and I would like to treat them well-if I only knew how. My goal was to raise chickens; not peafowl. For now the "peafowl" are in the hen house and my baby chicks are in the upstairs bathroom. Someday, soon though, the two must meet.
