I've been wanting to hatch eggs since I first thought about getting chickens. I did my research on BYC and discovered that the least expensive and most common 'bators (the hova-bators) were unreliable. You get what you pay for. The nicer incubators were out of my price range (I really really want a brinsea). But during my research I found how easy it was to build your own. I've always been a DIYer, but I didn't want to lay out a bunch of money for the parts (defeats the purpose!)...
Scrap lumber chicken coop Ever since I was a kid playing poker with my best friend on the roof of her chicken coop, I've wanted to raise chickens. Unfortunetly, my mom didn't. And when I grew up, I lived in a series of appartments. No love for the chickens there. I moved to Texas and suddenly had a yard. A good sized yard. Chicken Wish List Gotta hatch 'em all So I'm new to raising chickens. My coop is small and my egg production will exceed my needs. I still want more! I've already got my next coop planned out and I'm in the scrounging stages. I can't spend a lot, so I'm using waste lumber when I can find it. My current coop is 4x4 and the run is 8x4. I'm planning on buildling the new coop to the 8x4 dimensions and just plopping it on top of my old railroad ties. I'll likely build my run out of...
